Of Piedimonte Etneo.

Mariano Mazzab. 1872

No family record in this archive names this person — not as a child, not as a spouse, not as a parent. They are held here because the tree holds them, and no relationship of theirs is recorded to draw.

This person is not in the family's file. They exist here because an act names them, and this archive has read it. The reading is Piedimonte Etneo, Nati 1872 atto 32. Nothing on this page comes from Michael's export, which never held them — so there is no tree account here to agree or disagree with, and the pieces the export arrived in do not include them. Why this person is here

SALVATORE MAZZA'S ELDER BROTHER, AND THE NAMING CUSTOM CALLED HIM. Rosario Mazza's first son is named for ROSARIO'S OWN FATHER -- exactly what the custom predicts -- which is a third independent pointer at Mariano Mazza (b. c. 1809) after the 1845 birth act and the «di Mariano» patronymic. Born in CONTRADA SAN BASILIO, the same lane the family is in when Salvatore is born eleven months later. ELEVEN MONTHS IS TIGHT: Salvatore was born 5 January 1873, so either this boy died in infancy or the two births are ten and a half months apart. Not in the family tree, and his death has not been sought. NOTE THE NAME: there are now THREE Mariano Mazza in this archive -- this baby, his grandfather (b. c. 1809), and the twentieth-century man in the family tree who is a son of the Orazio born 1883. All three are TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE twice over -- this baby of 1872, his grandfather born about 1809, and the tree's twentieth-century namesake -- and they are filed apart on purpose so that no father= in this file can resolve to the wrong one.
