An ancestor of Mia and Rocco — generation 8 above them.

This person is not in the family's file. They exist here because an act names them, and this archive has read it. The register gives their trade as marinaro (sailor). The reading is Scilla, Matrimoni 1815 atto 29; Matrimoni 1821 atto 29; Matrimoni 1828 atto 26; Morti 1830 atto 64. Nothing on this page comes from Michael's export, which never held them — so there is no tree account here to agree or disagree with, and the pieces the export arrived in do not include them. Why this person is here
THE TOP OF THE ARENA SPINE UNTIL THIS AFTERNOON, AND NOW NOT. He is a MARINARO in every record that gives him a trade, and the sea runs FIVE generations through him: his father Filippo, himself, his son Filippo, his grandson Francesco Antonio, his great-grandson Rocco. He stood at three of his sons' weddings -- Filippo's in 1815, Giuseppe's in 1821, Antonio's in 1828 -- and died at six in the morning on 12 July 1830, in his own house, with two young kinsmen to declare it. HIS OWN DEATH ACT NAMES HIS PARENTS: «figlio del fu FILIPPO ARENA e della fu SANTA UNGARO». Not in the family tree. AND THE NAMESAKE IS STILL A TRAP: the tree holds an «Orazio Arena» of generation six, father of Teresa Arena, the man it wrongly hangs Rocco Arena under. TWO DIFFERENT MEN, two generations apart.

These three towns repeat their names relentlessly — this archive holds four men called Rosario Mazza and four called Giuseppe Arena. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Why →
