This person is not in the family's file. They exist here because an act names them, and this archive has read it. The register gives their trade as marinaro (sailor). The reading is Scilla, Matrimoni processetti 1842-1845, fascicolo 20 (Nati 1816 atto 207; Nati 1818 atto 129); Matrimoni 1845, atto 31. Nothing on this page comes from Michael's export, which never held them — so there is no tree account here to agree or disagree with, and the pieces the export arrived in do not include them. Why this person is here

THE OLDEST DONATO, and now dated. A sailor, like his son and his grandson. He was alive when his son Michele married in August 1845 -- «FIGLIO DI Candeloro Donato», not «del fu» -- and alive the year before too: his son Domenico's marriage bundle of July 1844 runs to FIVE FOGLI and contains no death certificate for either father, which this series required when a parent had died. HE IS WHERE THE SCILLA LINE STOPS. His own marriage, and any birth of his own, fall before 1816 when Scilla's civil registration begins, and his son Michele was born at MESSINA about 1814 where registration does not begin until 1820. Everything earlier is a parish record.
