Where this comes from

This person is not in the family's file. They exist here because an act names them, and this archive has read it. The reading is Riposto, Nati 1847 atto 152 (Tavola); Riposto, Morti 1850 atto 96, read in the original. Nothing on this page comes from Michael's export, which never held them — so there is no tree account here to agree or disagree with, and the pieces the export arrived in do not include them. All 2 of the relationships drawn above have been proved by a record this archive has read, rather than taken from the family tree.

No record has been read for this person. What is known of them is what the tree asserts, and it is unverified.

These three towns repeat their names relentlessly — this archive holds four men called Rosario Mazza and four called Giuseppe Arena. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Why →

Why this person is here

«152. NICOTRA ROSA — NICOTRA SALVADORE / Barbagallo Maria, 15 [Nov]». SHE IS NOT THE OTHER ROSA NICOTRA REGISTERED AT RIPOSTO THAT SAME WEEK: the entry above hers is a Rosa of GIUSEPPE NICOTRA and Angela Autieri, dated 17 November 1847, a separate household this archive has not placed. Nor is she the bare ROSA NICOTRA already in this archive from the family's own file, who has no dates and no source. She carries her paternal grandmother's name, Rosa Pappalardo, which is naming custom and weak evidence. Her father died at Mascali thirteen months after she was registered. READ FROM THE TAVOLA, NOT THE ACT: the annual index gives the entry, the parents and the date, and the act itself has not been opened. The Tavola's date column is the date of the act and may follow the birth by a few days. Generation is inferred from the parent's, against SIMONE NICOTRA at gen 7 and born about 1776. NOBODY HERE IS ATTACHED TO THE TREE; the number places them in time, not in the descent. UPDATE, 17 OCTOBER 2026: SHE DIED AT THREE. Riposto Morti 1850 atto 96 (3 November 1850) was opened: ROSA NICOTRA, aged three, born at Riposto, daughter of the LATE Salvadore and of Maria Barbagallo, who was still living with her in the countryside of Riposto. The same act confirms that her mother stayed at Riposto after the husband's death at Mascali.
