Rocco Arena
An ancestor of Mia and Rocco — generation 3 above them.
Every relationship drawn here comes from the family tree, and not one of them has yet been proved by a record. That is the honest state of this archive for this person: the chart shows what Michael Mazza's tree asserts, and the colour tells you only whether anything at all has been read about the person at the other end. Where this comes from
All 11 of the relationships drawn above come from Michael Mazza's family tree, and none of them has been proved by a record this archive has read.
3 records have been read about them:
- Brisbane Catholic Cemeteries register — plot V-1029 — burial register
- NAA: J25, 1971/3900 — «Arena, Rocco; wife Angelina [or Angela] [nee Polistena]», 1953-1971 — naturalisation file
- NAA: MP1103/1 PWN9406; A367 C18000/298; ST1233/1 N35192; against NAA passenger index, arrival 27 December 1953 — certain
THE EXACT PARALLEL OF THE MAZZA FILE, and it means BOTH pairs of Michael Mazza's grandparents have one. Brisbane, paper, «not yet examined» -- it needs the same access request. Its date range opens in 1953, which is the year Rocco Arena's crossing is dated.
A fourth internment that is NOT this family — A GUARD — A ROCCO ARENA WAS INTERNED IN AUSTRALIA AND HE IS NOT ONE OF THEM. NAA: MP1103/1 and MP1103/2, PWN9406, give «Prisoner of War/Internee: Arena, Rocco; Date of birth - 31 AUGUST 1909»; A367 C18000/298 and C329 42 are his Aliens Tribunal objection, number 35 of 1941; C123 4326 and C123 ITALIAN INTERNEES [Box 611] are Sydney lists of 1940; ST1233/1 N35192 is «Rocco Arena [Interned] [Application for Naturalisation]». THE ARITHMETIC EXCLUDES HIM ABSOLUTELY. This archive's ROCCO ARENA ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA ON 27 DECEMBER 1953 -- thirteen years after that man was interned. The other Rocco Arena, born at Scilla in 1861, DIED THERE ON 8 FEBRUARY 1932. Neither was in New South Wales in 1940. THIS GUARD EXISTS BECAUSE THE PATTERN IS ALREADY SET. Rosario Mazza, Mario Crupi and Antonino Crupi were all interned, all documented this week, and a fourth man of the right surname in the same camps would be very easy to believe. He is a Sydney man born in 1909 and he is nobody here.
Where the two disagree, the chart above still draws the tree as it stands. This archive does not silently rewrite what it was given — the acts are here.

Others of the same name
These three towns repeat their names relentlessly — this archive holds four men called Rosario Mazza and four called Giuseppe Arena. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Why →
