Where this comes from

2 of the 11 relationships drawn above have been proved by a record this archive has read. The other 9 come from Michael Mazza's family tree and have not.

2 records have been read about them:

What a register says about this person, which the tree does not.

The tree puts her crossing to America in 1894, when she was one. The Ellis Island manifest puts it at 23 MAY 1899, aged six, off the Archimede out of Naples -- and on the line immediately above hers is Giavanni Arena, 45, of Scilla. She travelled with him, not with her father, who arrived ten months later as a US citizen.

Crossing date — Crossed on 23 MAY 1899 aged six, on the Archimede out of Naples -- and on the line immediately above hers is Giavanni Arena, 45, of Scilla. She travelled with him, not with her father. THE IMAGE names the man she travelled with as her UNCLE -- her line begins with the word 'Niece' -- and he was going to join 'brother Rocco' at Mulberry Street, New York.

Where the two disagree, the chart above still draws the tree as it stands. This archive does not silently rewrite what it was given — the acts are here.

Others of the same name

These three towns repeat their names relentlessly — this archive holds four men called Rosario Mazza and four called Giuseppe Arena. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Why →
