Two children here carry one name — Rosaria Nicotra. In these towns that is usually not an error: a child who died was very often replaced by a later child given the same name. It is also exactly how a records-matcher invents one person out of two, which is why they are kept apart here and the reader is told.
What the record says
Where this comes from
This person is not in the family's file. They exist here because an act names them, and this archive has read it. The register gives their trade as pecoraio. The reading is Macchia, Morti 1842 atto 67; 1835 atto 1, 1836 atto 37 and 1838 atto 37, read in the original. Nothing on this page comes from Michael's export, which never held them — so there is no tree account here to agree or disagree with, and the pieces the export arrived in do not include them. How many there are →
All 7 of the relationships drawn above have been proved by a record this archive has read, rather than taken from the family tree.
No record has been read for this person. What is known of them is what the tree asserts, and it is unverified.
Others of the same name
These three towns repeat their names relentlessly — this archive holds four men called Rosario Mazza and four called Giuseppe Arena. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Why →
- Giacomo Nicotra — 1863 , Giarre
Why this person is here
Born at Macchia; «SPOSO DI ANGELA GRASSO»; a pecoraio (the clerk writes it peconiero, piconiere). His brother-in-law ALFIO GRASSO, 40, attested his death. Three daughters are known, each named Rosaria and each dead in infancy, in 1835, 1836 and 1838. MACCHIA, a comune beside Giarre later absorbed into it; the place is filed under Giarre because Macchia and its hamlets Milo and Dagala are not on the map.
