Domenica Prostamo
An ancestor of Mia and Rocco — generation 3 above them.
1 of the 13 relationships drawn here have been proved by a record; the other 12 come from Michael Mazza's family tree and have not. The colour on each edge says which is which, and it is drawn per edge so that one proved link cannot vouch for the rest. The method →

Where this comes from
1 of the 13 relationships drawn above have been proved by a record this archive has read. The other 12 come from Michael Mazza's family tree and have not.
4 records have been read about them:
- Brisbane Catholic Cemeteries register — plot V-1027 — burial register
- NAA passenger manifest — the Ugolino Vivaldi of 1 March 1951 read in full, and she is NOT on it — passenger index
- NAA: J25, 1971/1074 — «Mazza, Sebastiano; wife Domenica [nee Prostamo]», 1950-1971 — naturalisation file
- NAA: K269, 1 MAR 1951 UGOLINO VIVALDI, item 30133197 -- master list and Fremantle debarkation schedule, read in full — flagged
THE CANDIDATE IS WITHDRAWN. The master list holds ONE Mazza, «MAZZA Domenico» no. 476, bound for NARRACAN, VICTORIA and landing at MELBOURNE -- he is absent from the Fremantle debarkation schedule. No Prostamo aboard at all, and no second Mazza, though the list names children individually. Her March 1951 crossing is unknown again.
SHE IS NAMED WITH HER MAIDEN NAME ON HER HUSBAND'S FILE. Now that the Ugolino Vivaldi is disproved this is the best hope of her real crossing: a Queensland immigration file running from 1950 would record how and when she came.
Crossing — ship named, RETRACTED — RETRACTED. The manifest has been read and it is NOT her. The MASTER LIST of the Ugolino Vivaldi, trip 2/51, carries exactly ONE Mazza -- «MAZZA Domenico», no. 476 -- bound for NARRACAN, VICTORIA, and marked in the port column -M-. That column is unlabelled, but the -F- passengers correspond ONE FOR ONE with the Department of Immigration's separate «Schedule of Alien Passengers for debarkation at Fremantle», so F is Fremantle, M Melbourne, S Sydney. THIS MAN DID NOT LAND AT FREMANTLE -- he is absent from that schedule, which runs MARTINELLI straight to MERENDINO. There is NO Prostamo aboard under any spelling, and NO second Mazza, though the list names children individually. Domenica Prostamo went to her husband in BRISBANE. This is a Victorian arrival and a different man.
Where the two disagree, the chart above still draws the tree as it stands. This archive does not silently rewrite what it was given — the acts are here.

The register corrects the family tree here: born March 1928 → 3 May 1928. The site uses the register.

Others of the same name
These three towns repeat their names relentlessly — this archive holds four men called Rosario Mazza and four called Giuseppe Arena. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Why →
