Why this person is here
A CHILD OF FILIPPO ARENA'S BROTHER DOMENICO, and the first evidence that the 1838 marriage produced anyone. He died at Scilla on 27 March 1925, husband of SERAFINA VITA. THE ENTRY ALSO CONFIRMS TERESA POLISTINA INDEPENDENTLY: this archive had her only from the 1838 annual Tavola, and here she is again as a mother, eighty-seven years later, in a different series indexed by a different hand. TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE from the Giuseppe Arena born about 1794 who is Filippo's brother, and from the Giuseppe Arena born 1860 who is Rocco's -- three men of the name in three generations of one extended family, which is what the naming custom does to an archive.
