«CATARINA TOMARCHIO DI ANNI VENTIDUE, nata in questo Comune, di professione Braccialiera, FIGLIA DEL FU CARMELO e di MARIA NICOTRA domiciliata anche ivi». Her act proves MARIA NICOTRA was a living widow at Mascali in June 1828 — the first Nicotra trace in that comune. A child born about 1806 puts the marriage BEFORE civil registration began in 1820, so that marriage act is parish-only. Maria Nicotra is deliberately NOT given a row of her own: she has no dates, and this archive already holds a MARIA NICOTRA at generation four whom she must never be confused with. Generation is inferred from birth year against SIMONE NICOTRA, who is gen 7 and born about 1776. NOBODY HERE IS ATTACHED TO THE TREE; the number places them in time, not in the descent.
