Salvatore Mazza
An ancestor of Mia and Rocco — generation 4 above them.
4 of the 8 relationships drawn here have been proved by a record; the other 4 come from Michael Mazza's family tree and have not. The colour on each edge says which is which, and it is drawn per edge so that one proved link cannot vouch for the rest. The method →

A register contradicts what is written above. The lines in this block are the family tree's account. 3 readings taken from the original acts disagree with it — what the registers say →
Where this comes from
4 of the 8 relationships drawn above have been proved by a record this archive has read. The other 4 come from Michael Mazza's family tree and have not.
3 records have been read about them:
- FamilySearch full-text, Piedimonte Etneo Nati 1873 atto 3 — documented
- FamilySearch full-text, death act — documented
- Piedimonte Etneo, Nati 1873 atto 3; Nati 1879, Indice Annuale — documented
Birth date — Born 5 January 1873 at Piedimonte Etneo. Six years out.
Death date — Died 19 September 1929.
Birth year — the tree's 1879 has no act, and 1873 does — BORN 5 JANUARY 1873, Piedimonte Etneo Nati atto 3, in CONTRADA TERREMORTE, to «Rosario Mazza di Mariano», twenty-eight, bracciante, and «Leonarda Bonanno di Gaetano». The 1873 act had been read here before; what is new is that the 1879 ANNUAL INDEX has now been read whole and holds NO Salvatore Mazza at all -- only a Mazza Rosaria and a Mazza Venerio. So the tree's year is not merely unsupported, it is excluded at that comune. Six years out, which is this family's usual margin.
Where the two disagree, the chart above still draws the tree as it stands. This archive does not silently rewrite what it was given — the acts are here.

Photographs
From the family's own tree, contributed by Michael Mazza and relatives. Almost none are captioned — identifications are the most valuable thing you can send.
Others of the same name
These three towns repeat their names relentlessly — this archive holds four men called Rosario Mazza and four called Giuseppe Arena. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Why →
